Cake Classes

   The Scoop-N-Save hosts it's own cake classes and demonstrations at the store and are happy to educate others in the art of cake decorating. The classes are for people who are just beginning or for those who are on the intermediate level of cake decorating. Our instructors have 20+ years of experience decorating cakes and pastries and enjoy teaching others the tricks of the trade!

We offer a wide variety of classes so have a look and see what may peak your interests.


Please Note:
  • You may register by phoning 604-533-0035 or register in person

  • You must be 16 years of age or older to register

  • All class supply lists can be found by clicking here

  • The store is closed during class and you will not be able to shop outside of store hours

  • Store Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be issued after payment has been received. From time to time, the Scoop-N-Save is forced to cancel classes due to low enrollment and in these cases, full refunds will be issued.

  • Please be respectful to your instructor and classmates by being on time, plan to show up 10 minutes early

DATE: March 9th - March 30th, Tuesday Nights (4 sessions)
TIME: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
CLASS: Buttercream For Dummies
COST: $50 plus supplies
SUPPLIES NEEDED/INFO:
In this course you will learn to do borders, star tipping, cupcake designs, basket weaving, and it will also touch on flower making. You will gain a knowledge of the basic cake tools and be given professional tips on cake decorating. Scoop-N-Save will supply royal icing.

DATE: March 24th, Wednesday (1 Night Only)
TIME: 7:00pm - 8:30pm
CLASS: Easter Chocolate Making Class (Demo Only)
COST: $15
SUPPLIES NEEDED/INFO:
This class is a demo only with a lot of taste samples to try. Learn how to make beautiful Easter chocolate for your family and friends.

DATE: March 31st, Wednesday (1 Night Only)
TIME: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
CLASS: Easter Cupcake Class
COST: $30 plus 24 pre-made cupcakes
SUPPLIES NEEDED/INFO:
Why pay money for delicious in-store cupcakes when you can learn how to make your own. Students will learn how to decorate their own Easter cupcakes and make them a true work of art!

Students must bring 24 pre-made cupcakes to class with them for decorating. Please bring adequate container to bring them home in as well.

DATE: April 12th - April 19th, Monday Nights (2 sessions)
TIME: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
CLASS: Gum Paste Class #1 - Rose & Calla Lilly
COST: $40 plus supplies
SUPPLIES NEEDED/INFO:
You will learn how to make wonderful gum paste flowers. The flowers covered in this course are roses and calla lillies. Your instructor Norma, has many years of experience in this field and is an expert in the art of gum paste. She will share her helpful hints and make learning this skill a lot of fun.

Your instructor Norma, has many years of experience in this field and is an expert in the art of gum paste. She will share her helpful hints and make learning this skill a lot of fun.

CLASS: Gum Paste Class #3 - Cattleya Orchid & Tiger Lilly **CLASS FULL**
COST: $40 plus supplies
SUPPLIES NEEDED/INFO:
You will learn how to make wonderful gum paste flowers. The flowers covered in this course are the cattleya orchid and tiger lillies. Your instructor Norma, has many years of experience in this field and is an expert in the art of gum paste. She will share her helpful hints and make learning this skill a lot of fun.

DATE: April 28th, Wednesday (1 Night Only)
TIME: 7:00pm - 8:30pm
CLASS: Spring Cake - Fondant Class (Demo Only)
COST: $15
SUPPLIES NEEDED/INFO:
This class is a demo only and discusses and demonstrates the difficult task of covering a square cake with fondant. This is a really challenging area for many so bring your questions and join in on the fun with fondant.

DATE: May 5th, Wednesday (1 Night Only)
TIME: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
CLASS: Spring Flower Cupcakes
COST: $30 plus 24 pre-made cupcakes, plus supplies
SUPPLIES NEEDED/INFO:
Why pay money for delicious in-store cupcakes when you can learn how to make your own. Students will learn how to decorate their own colourful spring-time cupcakes and make them a true work of art!

Supplies: Tip #127, Tip #234, 2 Large Disposable Icing Bags, students must bring 24 pre-made cupcakes to class with them for decorating. Please bring adequate container to bring them home in as well.
